The Pineywoods Audubon Society originated in 1966 as a Natural History Club and voted to become an affiliate of the National Audubon Society in 1969. For years, it operated as the Nacogdoches County Audubon Society until the late 1990’s when it became the Pineywoods Audubon Society as it expanded its membership to residents of Angelina and other nearby counties.
