Directions
to David and Mimi Wolf's Home: From the junction of US 59 and US 259 on
the north side of Nacogdoches ("the Garrison Y"),
continue north on US 259 almost 2 miles (past the
Exxon/Polk's Pick-it-up on the left) to Central
Heights community. Turn left here on FM 698
(at the little church and just before the school)
and continue for about 1 1/2 miles to the first
road to the right (blacktop). This is CR
813. Continue north on CR 813 for one mile
and then the road makes a sharp jog to the left,
passes between a neat house and an overgrown
trailer home, and makes a sudden jog to the
right. The driveway is just past this second
jog and the name is on the mailbox (1285 CR 813,
Wolf). Pull on into the yard and we'll find
a place for you to park.
Directions to Angelina College Science &
Mathematics Building:
Southbound on South First Street/US 59S south of
the intersection of Loop 287 and US 59 S, exit at
Angelina College. Immediately turn right then turn
right again entering the north parking lot. Drive
to the back of the lot. The Science &
Mathematics Building is the building on the left
with columns on the front (and a name on the
side). Enter behind the columns, enter the stairs
on the left, and proceed to the second floor.
Follow the hallway to the other side of the
building, bearing left as you go. Once you go
through the fire doors, Room 209 is on the left.
(To an elevator, pass the stairs and proceed into
the first floor. Turn right when you get to the
hall. The elevator is on the left at the end of
the hall at the west end of the building.)
Directions to Kurth Lake:
From Lufkin, just north of Redland turn right (east)
off of US 59 on to Rivercrest Road (used to be CR
116) 0.6 of a mile north of the intersection of FM
2021 and US 59. If you come from Nacogdoches, you
will turn left about 2.6 miles south the the
Angelina River bridge. Follow the Rivercrest Road
until you cross the railroad. Turn left at the Kurth
Lake sign and drive to yellow, locked pipe gate near
the gate to the staff house (lodge). Wait there.
Directions to Grace Dunn Park:
The park entrance is 0.4 miles west of the
interection of Loop 287 and US 59 south in Lufkin.
There is a sign on the Loop, but the street is
Mott Road. Meet at or near the covered
picnic area.
Directions to Ellen Trout Zoo:
Ellen Trout Zoo and Lake is on Loop 287 on the
north side of Lufkin. Coming around the loop from
the zoo is about 0.9 miles west of the
intersection of Loop 287 and US 59 North and about
1.9 miles east of the intersection of Loop 287 and
US 69 north. It's near the George Henderson
Exposition Center.
From the
intersection of Hwy 7 and FM 2782 just southwest
of Nacogdoches, turn south on FM 2782 and
proceed 4.3 miles. The green pipe gate on
the left is unmarked and nondecript. It is about
a mile before you get to the SFA Experimental
Forest. From Lufkin, go north on Hwy 59 to
FM 2782 about 2 miles north of the Angelina
River. Turn left and proceed 3.5 miles passing
the entrance to the SFA Experimental Forest
about 1 mile before coming to the nondescript,
unmarked, green pipe gate on the right.ce.
Directions
to
Alazan WMA and SFA Experimental Forest
From the intersection of Hwy 7 and FM
2782 just southwest of Nacogdoches, turn
south on FM 2782 and proceed 2.3 miles to
entrance of SFA Experimental Forest.
Proceed past entrance gate approximately 0.25
miles and then follow the signs to the trail
parking lot. From Lufkin, go north on US
59 to FM 2782, which is approximately 2 miles
north of the the Angelina River crossing. Turn
left onto FM 2782 and proceed 2.3 miles to
the Alazan WMA entrance on the left, and .25
miles further to the SFA Experimental Forest
entrance.
Directions to the Museum of East Texas
The museum is located at 503 N 2nd
Street, Lufkin, TX 75901-3013. Coming from
Nacogdoches, stay on US 59 Business rather
than turning on to Loop 287. Turn
right on to Atkinson Drive at the second
traffic light. Turn left on to Second Street
which is just past the first traffic light on
Atkinson. The museum will be five or six
blocks down on your right.
Directions to the Forestry Building:
In Nacogdoches, turn off of North Street at East
College Street on the northern edge of the campus.
You may also approach by University Drive (FM 1275),
turning on to East College Drive at the William R.
Johnson Coliseum. The Arthur Temple Forestry
Building is at the intersection of East College
Street and Raguet Street. There is parking behind
the building. Room 222 is just to the right of the
top of the front stairs.

Limited Public Use (LPU) Permit

A
$12 Limited Public Use (LPU) Permit is also
available which allows an adult to enter these
lands, but does not authorize them to hunt. The
LPU Permit provides entry to Texas Parks &
Wildlife Department Wildlife Management Areas at
times when they are open for general
visitation.Only permit holders receive a map
booklet listing available areas, facilities,
rules, and schedules.
LPU Permits are available at TPWD
offices and all license vendors (a place which
sells hunting and fishing licenses), or by
calling 1-800-TX-LIC-4U (menu choice 1 for
license sales) and paying by Visa, Discover or
MasterCard). If the permit is purchased at a
TPWD office, the map booklet and supplement
will be provided immediately at the time of
purchase; otherwise, the publications will be
mailed to the purchaser within
two weeks of purchase.
Note: Hunter orange may be required during
rifle season on these lands.
Directions to Kit McConnico Park: The park is
on the east side of Lufkin, just off of Loop 287.
Coming south of Loop 287 (also US 59 & US 69
at this point) from the US 59/Nacogdoches exit
(near Charlie's Restaurant), turn right just after
you pass over the first overpass. Coming north on
Loop 287 from the Atkinson Drive (TX 103 East) /
Loop 287 intersection, take a left just before
passing over the first overpass. At this point,
you are on a short feeder road that leads to
Moffit Road. Turn right on Moffit Road when you
reach the next intersection. Follow the signs.Map.
